Although it was Friday the 13th, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to speak with the talented, award-winning custom jewelry designer and business woman Rosalind Burch of Washington, DC. Rosalind started her career selling jewelry for independent jewelry companies before she decided to start creating pieces of her own. She went on to pursue her education in jewelry design at Prince George’s Community College. She is also an Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP), a graduate gemology student at the Gemological Institute of America, and has completed the “Jewelry Design” program at the Sheffield School of Design in New York City.
For the past seven years, she has been building her brand and taking the fashion jewelry industry by storm! With her nature inspired ideas, she creates designs that keep her customers coming back for more! At Sto Jewels, Rosalind believes in breaking the rules and “stepping outside the jewelry box”. She can bring to life summer morning skies, blue waterfalls, or snow glistening under the moonlight. Rosalind says that she loves to design for the “everyday woman” and often gets requests for exclusive pieces for special occasions. Whether it be a wedding or birthday, Rosalind is sure to please her clients who trust her with creative freedom when designing for them. Her target audience extends far beyond age and captures the attention of many fashionistas ranging from 20 to 50 years young!
Rosalind’s talents have definitely gotten her noticed, as she was the Bronze Medal winner in the 2012 Gemstone Competition for the Fire Mountain Gems and the winner of the 2012 Jewelry Design Inspiration Competition for Jewelry Design Studio. She was also a Finalist in several other competitions from 2010-2012.
With her many accomplishments, expertise and creativity, Rosalind will be debuting her “Jewelz of Fall” Custom Jewelry Fashion Show on October 19, 2013 at the Hillyer Art Space in Washington, DC. When asked what we can expect to see in her upcoming show, Rosalind says, “lots of color, fun and surprises!” With her free spirit, unique style, and passion for her craft we are sure to get more than we could ever imagine! So roll out the red carpet!
Before departing we asked Ms. Burch to name someone she would love to make a special piece for. She says, “Michelle Obama! Why? Because she represents the “everyday woman”. She is a mother, loves beautiful clothes, and supports aspiring designers.” And we couldn’t let herleave without asking her to step inside the box… cookiBOX that is and give us the name of her favorite cookie. Vanilla Oreo it is!
On behalf of cookiBOX Entertainment Magazine, I’d like to wish Rosalind much success on her fall launch. We expect to hear a lot more from her in the years to come. For more information and ticket pricing, please visit www.sparklingjewelz.
